Charlottesville, Virginia
As the home of the University of Virginia, the City of Charlottesville is well represented in the geospatial data collection. The GIS layers include planimetrics, cadastral, hydrography, topography, aerial photographs and utilities. Other layers include themes such as parks, trails, and road centerlines. All the Charlottesville data is projected in Virginia State Plane South (ft, NAD83), a good all-around projection.
Afghanistan
The Afghanistan GIS data available here is provided by the Afghanistan Information Management Services (AIMS) and includes a wide array of data including hydrology, land cover, roads and cultural features. While not found in our collection, AIMS also hosts many datasets at the city-level for Afghanistan including elevation and government boundary files.
